Zalgiris signs veteran Goran Jurak

Kaunas Kaunas added some might to its frontline by signing Goran Jurak for the coming season. Jurak (203, 30) arrives from Italian side Fortitudo Bologna, which he joined towards the end of last season. He also spent time with Union Olimpija Ljubljana in his native Slovenia last year, averaging 10.5 points and 7 rebounds in two Euroleague games. Jurak also played in the Euroleague with Olimpija in 2002-03 and for Olympiacos Piraeus in 2003-04. The forward grew up with Celje KKK in his native Slovenia before joining Pivovarna Lasko in 1996. He moved to Olimpija in 2001 and has also played for Olympiacos in Greece and SICC Jesi, Pallacanestro Cantu and Bologna in Italy. Among his career highlights are winning the 2003 Slovenian Cup with Olimpija and being named the 2000 Slovenian League Defensive Player of the Year. Jurak has also represented Slovenia at the 2003 and 2005 European Championships and the 2006 World Championships.
