Lietuvos Rytas has strengthened its frontcourt for its Euroleague return in the 2007-08 season by inking center Michailas Anisimovas to a four-year deal. Anisimovas (213, 22) arrives from Neptunas Klaipeda, where he had a breakout season, averaging 14 points and 7 rebounds in 25 Baltic League games. He boosted his numbers up to 16.4 points and 8.5 rebounds in 15 Lithuanian League games. Anisimovas has also played for Barons/LU Riga in Latvia, as well as for Siauliai and Atletas Kaunas in his native Lithuania. He helped the Lithuanian under-20 national team to win the bronze medal at the 2004 European championships in Brno, and also helped his national team to win the gold medal at the World University Games this summer.
