Michel Morandais joins AXA Barcelona temporarily Little more than a week after having cancelled their first one, AXA FC Barcelona and swingman Alex Acker have reached a new contract agreement together, after which the club signed another swingman, Michel Morandais, on an interim basis. Acker (195, 24), one of the most-celebrated newcomers to the Euroleague last season, was signed in early August by Barcelona to replace out-going star Juan Carlos Navarro. On August 22, however, Barcelona announced that it had voided their contract after the player underwent medical testing with the club. Now, a new agreement between them has been announced that allows Barcelona to opt out of the contract up until December. At the same time, Barcelona signed Morandais (195, 28) to a three-month deal, after which the club can choose to keep him for the remainder of the season. Morandais made his Euroleague debut last season with Eldo Napoli of Italy, averaging 11 points and 5.6 rebounds in 25 minutes over 12 games. He had previously played for Cantu of Italy and Colorado University of the NCAA.
