Union Olimpija locks up young Mocnik

Slovenian powerhouse Union Olimpija Ljubljana made an investment with the signing of playmaker Jan Mocnik for three seasons. Mocnik (174, 20) arrives from Nova Gorica, where he averaged 10.5 points and 2.8 steals per game last season. He has also played three seasons with Kraski Zidar Sezana earlier in his career. Mocnik has been a regular on all the Slovenian national junior teams in recent seasons. This summer he put up 9.3 points and 5 assists per game in helping the under-20 side finish fifth at the European championships, played in his hometown of Nova Gorica. His assist total was the second best of the tourney.
