Erdogan leaves Tau for Efes
Serkan Erdogan heads to Efes Pilsen A lethal scorer is changing Euroleague teams after dual announcements on Friday landed shooting guard Serkan Erdogan with Efes Pilsen in his native Turkey. Early in the day, Tau Ceramica of Spain, where Erdogan (190, 29) had spent the last two seasons, announced an agreement to release him. Later, the official word was that Erdogan would dress in an Efes uniform next season. Erdogan was the Euroleague's 22nd best scorer last season, averaging 12.1 points, which was more remarkable because in four of his 21 games, he scored 3 or fewer points. Otherwise, his average was 14.5 points. Erdogan became a hero in his first season at Tau by scoring 24 points in 25 minutes of a Quarterfinal Playoffs road win at Panathinaikos that lifted the team to the 2006 Final Four in Prague. Among players who have gone through five or fewer seasons in the Euroleague, only two - Sarunas Jasikevicius and Trajan Langdon - have made fewer three-pointers than Erdogan, and on the all-time list, he ranks 12th overall. He is also one of the most efficient three-point specialists all decade, ranking sixth at 39.76% accuracy among players who made more than 150 shots from long range in their Euroleague careers. Erdogan began his career in 1004 with Kolejliler Ankara of Turkey, proceeded to Tuborg Spor Kulubu Izmir between 1995 and 1998 and Tofas Spor Kulubu Bursa the following season. He spent the first half of the decade with Ulker Istanbul before moving to Tau Ceramica in Spain.
