Brazilian center Murilo Da Rosa landed in Tel Aviv on Tuesday to join Maccabi Elite's pre-season training. Da Rosa (208, 24), who signed a multi-year deal with the club last month, will travel with Maccabi next week to a training camp in Slovenia. Afterwards management and coach Oded Kattash will decide whether to keep him on the active roster or to loan him out for a season in order to gain European experience. The big man travels to play in Europe for the first time after an eventful summer in which he played for the Brazilian national team at the Pan-American Games and the FIBA Tournament of the Americas and got married. Da Rosa led Brazil to gold at the Pam-Am Games in Rio, averaging 15.2 points on 69% shooting and 7.4 rebounds in five games. He ranked sixth in scoring, fifth in rebounding and seventh in blocked shots (0.8 per game) at the event. He then traveled to Las Vegas for the Tournament of the Americas, where playing behind Tau Ceramica center Tiago Splitter, Da Rosa posted 6.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in helping his team to a fourth-place finish.
