ULEB referees gather to prepare 2007-08 season

Refs get readyBarcelona, September 19th, 2007. The 15th Clinic for Euroleague Basketball-FIBA Europe International Referees will be held in the city of Kranjska Gora, Slovenia from Thursday, September 20th to Monday, September 24th. Of a total of 109 referees who will participate in 2007-08 ULEB competitions, 93 will participate in the clinic to prepare for the start of the season, as will 16 observers. The remaining 16 referees will not be able to attend as they will be officiating in the EuroBasket Women and other FIBA Zone championships. For those referees who cannot attend, an additional clinic will be held in Malaga, Spain on October 8 and 9.

Building on a tradition of cooperation between Euroleague Basketball referees and coaches that aims to improve all of the different aspects of the game, Efes Pilsen Head Coach David Blatt, recently crowned European champion with the Russian national team, and Head Coach Saso Filipovski of ULEB Cup team Turow Zgorzelec will make presentations to the referees in Kranjska Gora The clinic will emphasise the memorandum of understanding agreed upon at the recent ULEB Summer League between Euroleague Basketball refereeing directors and head coaches, which concerned the establishment of officiating criteria designed to permit players to fully demonstrate their talent.
