Union Olimpija Ljubljana has acquired top point guard prospect Goran Dragic on loan from Tau Ceramica for the coming season. Dragic (192, 21) signed a long-term deal with Tau this summer, but the team deemed that he would be best served by getting another year of experience under his belt. Accordingly, he returns to his hometown of Ljubljana, where he grew up with rival club Geoplin Slovan. Last season Dragic played for Polaris World CB Murcia in Spain, where he averaged 4.6 points and 1.7 assists in 16 minutes per game. This summer Dragic played for the Slovenian national team at the EuroBasket championships, averaging 5.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. By joining Olimimpa, he reunites with former teammates Miha Zupan, Sasa Doncic and Ronell Taylor as well as coach Memi Becirovic, who lost to Olimpija in the final game of the best-of-five Slovenian League finals in 2006.
