Olympiacos: Roberts released, Vassiliadis hurt
Olympiacos got hit high and low on Thursday, when it learned that Kostas Vassiliadis would miss a month of action while injured at the same time that the club announced the release of Lawrence Roberts, a big man hired over the summer. Roberts (206, 25) failed to meet the expectations of head coach Pini Gershon, who decided to cut him and search for another player. He had not played in any official game, since the season has not yet started in either the Greek League nor the Euroleague. Meanwhile, Vassiliadis (200, 23) became the third player of the Reds to suffer a major injury during preseason. The swingman was injured on the sole of his foot and he will be sidelined for one month, forcing him out of the team's Euroleague opener. Olympiacos is already missing Renaldas Seibutis and Panagiotis Vassilopoulos due to injuries.
