Partizan inks giant Slavko Vranes
Slavko Vranes One of the talest players in the world, center Slavko Vranes, signed a three-year contract with Serbian champion Partizan Igokea, the Belgrade side announced Tuesday. The move completes the Partizan frontline, giving the club a strong duo at center with Nikola Pekovic returning. Vranes (229, 24), who will be the tallest player in the league this season, spent the last three seasons with Buducnost Pogdorica, where he matured as one of the top shot-blockers in the Adriatic League. Vranes's only previous Euroleague experience came with Buducnost as a teenager in 2002, when he averaged 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks over 14 games in limited minutes. Last season he showed solid improvements averaging 4.8 points and 2 blocks in 24 Adriatic League games. Vranes grew up with FMP Zeleznik juniors and spent some time in the NBA with the Portland TrailBlazers, where he played in one game during the 2003-04 season. Vranes has also played for Efes Pilsen in Turkey and Red Star in Serbia during his basketball career.
