Week 2 co-MVPs: Jomantas of Lietuvos Rytas, Lorbek of Lottomatica Roma

After a dozen games in which the difference between winning and losing was often slight, two players who enjoyed opposite luck - Arturas Jomantas of Lietuvos Rytas and Erazem Lorbek of Lottomatica Roma - will share MVP honors for Week 2 with performance index ratings of 29 each. Jomantas, a forward, helped keep L. Rytas undefeated and sharing first place in Group B by leading the way to a 92-74 home victory over dangerous Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv in Vilnius, Lithuania. Jomantas showed his versatility with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Lorbek was just as impressive in a losing effort, his team's 89-83 road loss at Real Madrid, in which the center and former Euroleague Rising Star Trophy winner scored 24 points and pulled 6 rebounds. They were followed closely by three players with index ratings of 27 each. They included Nikola Pekovic of Partizan Igokea, who had been Week 1 MVP, and this time led his team to an 87-88 road win at Chorale Roanne with 23 points, including the game-winning three-point play. Davor Kus paced Unicaja's blowout 102-64 home victory over his old team, Cibona Zagreb, with 23 points on near-perfect shooting. And Tiago Splitter of Tau Ceramica amassed 14 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in just 17 minutes on the floor of his team's 98-71 home victory over Virtus VidiVici Bologna.

Arturas Jomantas - Lietuvos Rytas After two weeks of the regular season, the individual statistical leaders show Pekovic way out in front in index rating with an average of 33.5. He sits second among scoring leaders, however, behind Delonte Holland of Virtus VidiVici, who debuted in Week 2 with 27 points against Tau in a losing effort. The rebounding lead belongs to Mirza Teletovic of Tau Ceramica, who is averaging 13 per game so far. Tops in assists so far is another Lottomatica Roma player, Roko-Leni Ukic, with 8 dishes per game. The current steals leaders are Raul Lopez of Real Madrid and Arvydas Macijauskas of Olympiacos with 4 on average, while the top shot blocker is Andrea Crosiariol of Virtus VidiVici with 3 per game.
