Union Olimpija brings Boris Gorenc home
Boris Gorenc Union Olimpija Ljubljana announced on Wednesday that veteran scorer Boris Gorenc has agreed to terms for the remainder of the season. Gorenc (195, 34), who began his pro career with Olimpija, has already been training with the club as he rehabs from a knee injury, but he will not be available for game action until the rehabilitation process is completed. Gorenc arrives from Khimki Moscow, where he averaged 4.5 points in 10 ULEB Cup games last season. Gorenc played for Olimpija from 1990 through 1996, leading the club to the 1994 Saporta Cup title. He has also played for SIG Strasbourg and EB Pau-Orthez in France, Rimini Basket, Pallacanestro Reggiana Reggio Emilia, Andrea Costa Imola, Montepaschi Siena, Pallacanestro Varese and Amatori Udine in Italy and Olympiacos Piraeus in Greece. Among his other career highlights are winning the Slovenian championship five times with Olimpija and the 2002 Saporta Cup with Montepaschi Siena, being named the MVP at the 1994 European Under-22 Championships and leading the 2002-03 Italian League in scoring with 22.3 points per game.
