Cajasol set a do-or-die showdown to reach the Euroleague Basketball Nike International Junior Classification Tournament L’Hospitalet semifinals by downing CB L'Hospitalet 97-75 in the first game on Friday. Cajasol faces FMP later on today and the winner will advance to the semifinals, while the hosts ran out of chances to make it to the next round. Jordan Burger paced the winners with 29 points on 9-for-11 two-pointers, 8-for-8 free throws and 14 rebounds. Julio Sosa added 19 points, Alvaro Saborido had 12 while Fran Cardenas got 11 for Cajasol. Jordi Salto and Gerard Cuenca each had 21 points for L'Hospitalet while Josep Cegarra added 16 for the hosts. Sosa and Cardenas fueled a 9-0 run that gave Cajasol an early 13-4 lead. Saborido and an unstoppable Sosa helped their team to boost its margin to 29-10 after 10 minutes. Burger took over early in the second quarter while a corner triple by Arturo Fernandez made it an 18-point game, 40-22. L'Hospitalet changed the game momentum with a 2-3 zone defense, while three-pointers by Marc Marchena, Cuenca and Salto got the hosts within 44-38. A buzzer-beating triple by Luis Mayayo allowed Cajasol to reach halftime with a 47-38 margin. A three-pointer by Cardenas ignited a 12-0 Cajasol run that Perez capped with a close jumper, good for a 61-45 lead. Salto singlehandedly kept L'Hospitalet in the game, 65-59, but Burger stroke from downtown for a 68-59 Cajasol edge after 30 minutes. the hosts did not recover, as Sosa and Burger allowed Cajasol to keep a safe lead all the way until the final buzzer.
