Struggling Brose Baskets Bamberg has solidified its back-court by bringing in playmaker Mithat Demirel on a contract until the end of the season.
The German international Demirel (178, 29) comes to Bamberg and will play for national team coach Dirk Bauermann and join his Germany teammates Ademola Okulaja, Steffen Hamann, Demond Greene, Robert Garrett and Tim Ohlbrecht.
Demirel played from 2001 to 2005 at Alba Berlin before moving to Besiktas Cola Turka and then Galatasaray Cafe Crown. He played this season for Italian club Legea Scafati Basket, averaging 2.1 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists.
"We signed Mithat to give some life to our offensive game with a quick and creative playmaker. Mithat should be able to help his players get some easy points," Bauermann said on the club's website.
