Zalgiris gets bigger with N'Diaye
|
Fresh off its Lithuanian Cup victory on Wednesday, Zalgiris Kaunas continued adding to its roster on Friday by signing veteran big man Mamadou N'Diaye from Senegal, making him the club's first-ever African player. N'Diaye (212, 32) had played the first half of this season with Panellinios of Greece, for whom he averaged 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in eight ULEB Cup games. His blocked shot average ranked N'Diaye 15th in the ULEB Cup regular season. He was also the Week 2 MVP after shooting perfectly for 26 points to go with 7 rebounds and 2 blocks despite a loss at Red Star in Belgrade. Before coming to Greece to join PAOK in 2005, N'Diaye had spent most of the previous five seasons playing in the NBA for Toronto, Dallas, Atlanta and the Los Angeles Clippers.
