Unicaja signs Castle as Cabezas is hurt
Days after he was released by one Top 16 team, point guard Terrell Castle has signed with another, Unicaja, for the remainder of the season. The move was unrelated but coincidental to Unicaja's announcement that starting point guard Carlos Cabezas will miss a month of action injured with a right leg muscle tear. Cabezas was injured during Unicaja's quarterfinal loss in the Spanish King's Cup on Thursday to another Top 16, Tau Ceramica. However, the signing of Castle after he had played the last three-plus seasons with Aris TT Bank was already in the air before the injury to Cabezas. Castle (182, 35) was averaging 7.2 points and 25 minutes per game as a starter for Aris before his release. He was replaced in the starting lineup by new guard Darius Washington in the last Aris regular season game. Castle will now be counted on by Unicaja to help replace the 11.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2 assists that Cabezas averaged in the first round.
