Montepaschi Siena signs combo guard Drake Diener
Italian champion Montepaschi Siena has confirmed the addition of guard Drake Diener, who arrives from Pierrel Capo d'Orlando. Diener (26, 196) arrives after lengthy negotiations between the two teams, which began in December after Rimantas Kaukenas was injured. He has recently recovered from an injury to the quadriceps muscle in his left leg and is not expected to make his Euroleague debut for at least another week. This season is Diener’s second in Italy, following a successful four-year college basketball career at DePaul University. Last season he made his European debut in the Italian second division with Ignis Castelletto Ticino, averaging 17 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. He was averaging 18.2 points per game this season for Capo d’Orlando.
