Five days before its best-of-three playoff series against CSKA Moscow begins, Olympiacos Piraeus unexpectedly released center Marc Jackson, it's top rebounder and inside scorer, on Thursday. Jackson averaged 15.1 points, 6 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 20 Euroleague games this season, his first in the competition. Jackson played more minutes, made more two-point shots and more free throws than any other Olympiacos player this season. He was the seventh-ranked player overall in performance index rating for the entire Euroleague season to date. Olympiacos announced the move on Thursday, one day after it lost the Greek Cup final to rival Panathinaikos. Jackson, 33, played 16 minutes in the Greek Cup final and posted 10 points, but he was on the bench in crucial minutes of the game.
