Nike IJT Belgrade Game Report: Khimki 77-69 Union Olimpija
BC Khimki Moscow won the seventh spot in the Nike Junior Tournament in Belgrade, Serbia after beating Union Olimpija Ljubljana 77-69 in the opening game of last day in the competition. Khimki used a run in the third quarter to deny Olimpija's hopes for a win and enjoyed a good shooting day from long range when connected 12 long range shots in 44%. Olimpija didn't rest Miraz Sarajlija and Dino Muric for a second and that was enough to enter the half time down 41-38 but it didn't get beyond that. Fedor Klycehnikov and Vladimir Pichokurov led the Russian side to a 26-17 third quarter lead, and a solid double-digits lead. Olimpija only narrowed the gap in the closing quarter but that wasn't good enough to capture the win. Pichokurov led the way for Khimki with 21 points, Klycehnikov added 20 while Pavel Kolchev finished with 12. Muric and Sarajlija scored 24 points each for Olimpija with the first adding 17 rebounds.
