Nike IJT Belgrade Game Report: Prokom Trefl 51-46 Fenerbahce Ulker
Tomasz Marynewski - Prokom Trefl  - Belgrade Junior Tournament 2008 The first game of the morning in the Hala Basketland for 11th Place turned into a defensive fest, with both teams playing tough basketall as they searched for their first win of the tournament. In the end it was Prokom Trefl Sopot who came out on top with a 51-46 victory over Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul. The Poles were led by 217cm Piotr Wojdyr who scored 8 points and snared an impressive 12 rebounds and 3 blocks. Batuhan Bulduk and Ayhan Numanovic led the Turks with 21 points between them. The teams came out of the locker rooms playing hard and scoring points, with Wojdyr imposing his size on the game early with 2 offensive rebounds and putbacks as Prokom led 15-11 at the end of the first. The defensive intensity pickd up in the next quarter as Prokom widely used a 2-3 zone, and both teams found it more difficult to score, going in at the half with a 25-22 score on the scoreboard. It was more of the same after the break as Szchechowicz knocked down two threes as the game stayed too close to call, 37-35 after thirty minutes. As the clock ticked down in the fourth Prokom hit two threes to keep Fenerbahce at arms length, running out the clock for a 51-46 victory. The result confirms the final two placings in the tournament: Prokom Trefl Sopot 11th and Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul 12th.
