Lietuvos Rytas tabs Donatas Zavackas
Lietuvos Rytas made its first move to improve its roster for the upcoming 2008-09 season by inking forward Donatas Zavackas to a two-year deal, with an option to extend ir for two additional seasons. Zavackas (203, 28) arrives from Siauliai, where he averaged 14.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 9 ULEB Cup games, hitting 19-for-37 shots from downtown (51.4%). He did even better in the Lithuanian League, finishing it as its regular season index ranking leader with a 19.7 average. Zavackas averaged 16.1 points and 6.6 rebounds in 19 Lithuanian League games. Zavackas has also played for Dnipro Dnepropetrovsk in Ukraine, Neptunas Klaipeda in Lithuania, Anwil Wloclawek in Poland, Snaidero Udine in Italy, Besancon in France, Liege Basket in Belgium, as well as for the University of Pittsburgh.
