ASK Riga keeps coach Butautas

ASK Riga has announced that head coach Ramunas Butautas has extended his contract for one more season. Butautas, age 44, is set to start his fourth season with ASK. He helped ASK to win the Latvian League title in 2006, breaking Ventspils' seven-year winning streak in the competition and allowing his team to make its ULEB Cup debut. Last season, ASK reached the Baltic League semifinals, losing against eventual champion Zalgiris Kaunas, and also returned to the Latvian League finals but could not successfully defend its title against Barons /LMT. Butautas has also coached BC Siauliai, as well as the Lithuanian national team. He helped Lithuania to win the bronze medal at EuroBasket 2007 and also won the gold medal at the FIBA U21 World Championship in 2005.
