Barcelona adds David Andersen
David Andersen FC Barcelona announced its second blockbuster signing in the last three days on Saturday with the news that three-time Euroleague champion David Andersen has inked a three-year deal with the club. Andersen (212, 28) has been one of the most dominant big men in international basketball between his numerous Euroleague accomplishments and his success with the Australian national team. His signing comes fresh on the heels of Juan Carlos Navarro penning a five-year contract with the club. Andersen arrives from CSKA Moscow, with whom he enjoyed remarkable success during his four-year stay, reaching four Euroleague Basketball Final Fours, winning two championships and claiming four Russian League championships. Andersen averaged 12.8 points and 5.8 rebounds in 25 Euroleague games last season, shooting a remarkable 54.2% from downtown. His best individual campaign came in the 2005-06 season, when he posted 14.8 points and 7.7 rebounds in 12 regular-season games before sever leg injury sidelined him for the rest of that season. Over the years he has had many big games against Barcelona, including a 20-point, 8-rebound performance in a Top 16 win this season.

The veteran center began his European career in 1999 when he signed with Virtus Bologna, with whom he won the 2001 Euroleague as well as the 2001 Italian championship and two Italian Cups during four seasons with the club. His next stop was for one season at Montepaschi Siena, where he reached another Euroleague Final Four and won another Italian crown. From there he went to CSKA, where he has become one of the most consistent big men in the game due to his versatility that makes him a problem to gourd in the low post and on the perimeter. Among his individual accomplishments was being named to the 2004-05 All-Euroleague First Team.
