Cibona names Velimir Perasovic head coach

Velimir Perasovic Cibona Zagreb has named Croatian basketball legend Velimir Perasovic as its new head coach. Perasovic, 43, will be officially presented at a press conference in the Croatian capital on Monday. His entire coaching career to date has been in Spain, where he led Tau Ceramica to the 2006 Euroleague Final Four in Prague. Perasovic arrives from Estudiantes Madrid. He also coached spent a season with Caja San Fernando. Perasovic was an accomplished scorer during his playing days, first with the great Jugoplastika Split dynasty, with whom he won three straight Euroleague titles between 1989 and 1991. He later played four seasons for Tau and five for Fuenlabrada among 11 playing season in Spain before retiring. His greatest coaching success came with Tau, with whom he won the Spanish King’s Cup and reached the Spanish League finals in 2006. He left the club in March 2007 following a stay in the hospital for heart-related issues.
