Reds get another All-Euroleague guard in Halperin
Yotam Halperin - Maccabi Elite Olympiacos continues to be one of the most active teams of the summer with the announcement Wednesday that it has inked All-Euroleague second-team guard Yotam Halperin to a three-year deal. Halperin (196, 24) arrives from Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he averaged 10.2 points and 4 assists in 25 Euroleague games last season, helping the team to make it all the way to the title game against CSKA Moscow. Born in Tel Aviv and raised at Maccabi, Halperin joined the Israeli powerhouse in 2001. He helped Maccabi to lift back-to-back Euroleague trophies 2004 and 2005 and to win four consecutive Israeli League titles from 2002 to 2005, when he joined Union Olimpija for one season. In Ljubljana, Halperin won both the Slovenian League and Slovenian Cup titles with in 2006, while also averaging 13.8 points and 3.5 assists in 14 Euroleague games. After that breakout season, Halperin returned to Maccabi, winning the Israeli League title in 2007. Halperin is also a regular member of the Israeli national team. His signing comes one day after Olympiacos made news by signing the other second-team All-Euroleague guard from last season, Theodoros Papaloukas, away from CSKA Moscow.
