Alba Berlin signs Steffen Hamann
One of the best German playmakers will stay in the Euroleague next season, as Alba Berlin has confirmed that Steffen Hamann inked a three-year deal with the team on Tuesday. Hamann (194, 27) arrives from Brose Baskets Bamberg, where he averaged 8.7 points and 2.6 assists in 14 Euroleague games last season. As such, Hamann leaves his lifelong club, as he was born in Bamberg and played for Brose Baskets throughout his entire career, apart from a short stay in Fortitudo Bologna early in the 2006-07 season. He has helped Bamberg to win two German League titles in 2005 and 2007, as well as being a regular member of the German national team. "Joining Alba means a lot to me, it is a great challenge after having played for Bamberg for such a long time," Hamann said. "Of course, we want to defend the German League title and be able to reach the Euroleague Top 16."
