DKV Joventut brings back Marcelinho Huertas
Marcelinho Huertas DKV Joventut has picked up its option to keep playmaker Marcelinho Huertas in the upcoming 2008-09 season. Huertas (191, 25) has an outstanding season at iurbentia Bilbao Basket, averaging 14.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.6 steals in 34 Spanish League (ACB) games last season. Not only Huertas helped Bilbao to reach the Spanish King's Cup semifinals, the Spanish Supercup title and the ACB playoffs, but Huertas earned all-ACB first team honours. Huertas already played for Joventut from 2004 to 2007. He averaged 5.3 points and 1.4 assists in 20 Euroleague games in the 2006-07 season. He helped Joventut to win the FIBA Eurocup title in 2006. Huertas has also played for Pinheiros and Paulistano in his native Brazil, where he is a regular member of its national team. Joventut has the option to match any offer coming from any Spanish team and get him back, and even when Bilbao Basket tried to keep the player, Huertas is set to return to DKV next season.
