Roma keeps Gabini for a third season
Virtus Roma announced Friday that it has resigned forward Roberto Gabini for what will be his third season with the club. Gabini (198, 33) averaged 5.7 points and 3 rebounds for Roma in 20 Euroleague appearances and 8.5 points and 4.7 boards in 33 Italian League games, helping the club reach the Italian League finals. He netted a career-high 30 points with 8 three-pointers made last season in an Italian League game against Avellino, but Gabini’s biggest contributions in terms of intensity and defense cannot be measured by stats. He grew up with Regatas San Nicolas in his native Argentina and also played for Obras Sanitarias Buenos Aires, Atenas Cordoba and Boca Juniors before heading to Europe, where he's played for Tau Ceramica and Granada in Spain and Rimini Basket in Italy.
