Vlado Ilievski returns to Union Olimpija
Vlado Ilievski Slovenian champion Union Olimpija Ljubljana has signed former playmaker Vlado Ilievski for the next two seasons. Ilievski (188, 28) is an established Euroleague veteran, who brings plenty of experience to the club's young backcourt. He previously played for Olimpija between 2001 and 2003, helping the team win the Adriatic League, Slovenian League and two Slovenian Cups. He arrives from Montepaschi Siena, with whom he reached the Euroleague Basketball Final Four and won the Italian championship last season. He averaged 7.4 points, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals in 24 Euroleague games as the team’s first guard off the bench. He was worth 8.7 points, 1.8 assists and 1.4 steals in the Italian League. A seasoned veteran, Ilievski has already appeared in 110 Euroleague Basketball games and enters the season tied fro 20th all-time with 144 career steals. He has previously played for Virtus Bologna and Lottomatica Roma in Italy, FC Barcelona in Spain and Partizan in Serbia. He helped Barcelona to win the Spanish League title in 2004 and. Ilievski is also a regular member of the FYROM national team.
