Unicaja lands Thomas Kelati
Unicaja keeps completing its roster for the upcoming 2008-09 season by inking small forward Thomas Kelati to a one-year deal. Kelati (195, 25) arrives from PGE Turow Zgorzelec, where he averaged 14.8 points and 3.2 rebounds in 15 ULEB Cup games last season. Kelati helped Turow to make it all the way to the ULEB Cup Final Eight, losing in the quarterfinals against Dynamo Moscow. In his two seasons in Zgorzelec, Kelati also reached consecutive Polish League finals, losing twice against Prokom Trefl Sopot. Kelati has also played for Dexia Mons-Hainaut in Belgium since finishing his four-year college career at the Washington State University (NCAA). He averaged 14.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in his senior season with the Cougars. Kelati, the only professional basketball player with Eritrean roots, is set to make his Euroleague debut with Unicaja.
