Partizan inks teen swingman

Serbian champion Partizan on Friday announced the signing of teenaged swingman Joao Soares, who won the Portuguese League title last season with his hometown team, Ovarense Aerosoles. Soares (196, 18) was a member of Portugal Under-18 national team this summer. At the European B Division tournament, he scored 34 points against Belarus in a game scouted by Partizan head coach Dusko Vujosevic, who recruited Soares to join the team and compete in Euroleague next season. Soares has spent the last three seasons with Ovarense and also won the Portuguese Cup with the team last season. In the ULEB Cup, he played only a few minutes in two games, however.
