AJ Milano bulks up with Joey Beard
Armani Jeans Milano bulked up its frontline over the weekend with the signing of Joey Beard. The big man arrives from Prima Veroli, where he averaged 7.7 points and 4.8 rebounds in the Italian second division. Beard (210, 33) brings plenty of top level European experience with him from his days at Benetton Treviso. He was a key reserve and part-time starter for Benetton between 2005 and 2007, helping the club to the 2006 Euroleague Basketball Quarterfinal Playoffs. The veteran has made a number of stops in his European career, playing for Roanne in France, Giessen in Germany, Caja San Fernando in Spain, Oostende in Belgium and Rimini, Reggio Calabria, Benetton, Veroli and now Milano in Italy. Beard will wear number 19 with his new club. He joins a frontline that already includes Richard Mason Rocca, Pape Sow and Mindaugas Katelynas. He will also be reunited with a number of former teammates, including Massimo Bulleri and Marco Mordente.
