DKV Joventut: Ricky Rubio out at least six weeks
DKV Joventut teenage superstar Ricky Rubio underwent surgery on his right wrist and will be sidelined for at least six weeks, the club announced Tuesday. Rubio has been sidelined for the entire preseason due to a hand injury that he had in the 2008 Olympic Games final, in which Spain faced the United States for the gold medal. Rubio underwent a wrist arthroscopy at USP Institut Universitari Dexeus today to find out that he had a fractured ligament. Once the fracture was confirmed, open surgery was needed to piece together his ligament with intraosseous suture. Rubio's wrist will be immobiized for two weeks and a new evaluation will be donw in six weeks' time. As such, Rubio will be sidelined in the opening games of the Euroleague season. Rubio, Dr. Xavier Mir and Dr. Victor Lainez will attend the media in a press conference tomorrow for further details.
