Maccabi lands scoring ace Marcus Brown
Marcus Brown - Zalgiris KaunasThe Euroleague's all-time top scorer switched teams right before the start of the competition, as Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv announced the arrival of shooting guard Marcus Brown, who arrived on loan from Zalgiris Kaunas. This move brings Brown (191, 34), one of the Euroleague's biggest names, to one of the competition's biggest clubs. Brown, who regained the all-time Euroleague top scorer crown last season, stays on top of the list with 2,312 points. He is also second in index rating, only to Nikola Vujcic, with 2,381 in 140 games. Brown averaged 14.5 points on 41.8% three-pointers, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 20 Euroleague games last season. He was chosen as the Euroleague December MVP last season, averaging 24.6 points on 15-for-19 three-pointers in that month. Brown helped Zalgiris to win the Lithuanian Cup, the Baltic League and the Lithuanian League titles last season. Brown was named to the 2003-04 All-Euroleague First Team and was named to the second team on two other occasions. During his career. He has also won national titles in France with Pau-Orthez and Limoges, in Turkey with Efes Pilsen, in Russia with CSKA and in Spain with Unicaja. Among other career highlights include lifting the 1999 Korac Cup with Limoges and playing in three Euroleague Final Fours. Brown will already join his new team in their Euroleague season opener against Cibona in Zagreb on Thursday. Maccabi now has 13 players, which means that one of them will sit out every week.
