Zalgiris Kaunas and center Ratko Varda have parted ways, the club announced Tuesday. Club general manager Paulius Motiejunas confirmed the announcement, adding that the decision was mutual. Varda, who signed a two-year deal with the club over the summer, played a total of 18 minutes over two Euroleague games with Zalgiris, missing two other games due to a shoulder injury. He is now free to sign with other teams.
Meanwhile, Zalgiris's starting center, Loren Woods, has left the club to be with his wife, who is ill, in the United States. There is no date set for Woods's return. Without him, veteran Eurelijus Zukauskas becomes the team's only experienced center.
