Lakovic joins 2,000-point club!
Jaka Lakovic - Regal FC Barcelona A player who was virtually unknown when he debuted in the Euroleague eight seasons ago, Jaka Lakovic of Regal F.C. Barcelona, is now just the fourth 2,000-point player of the decade in Europe's top competition. To join the select few in the 2,000-point club, Lakovic nailed one of his signature three-pointers late in the third quarter of Barcelona's eventual 60-75 road victory over Zalgiris. He later added another basket for a game-high 22 points and a career total of 2,002 moving him into fourth place all-time, a single point behind injured CSKA Moscow guard J.R. Holden. The top all-time scorer is Marcus Brown of Maccabi Electra with 2,361 points and second is Luis Scola, who has 2,054. Lakovic, from Slovenia, went from unknown to star overnight by debuting with 31 points for Krka Novo Mesto on October 10, 2001, and then dropping 38 on the road at Real Madrid in his second game.
