Panionios On Telecoms has made a major addition to its frontcourt as it targets a spot in the Top 16 with the signing of former Euroleague champion Demos Dikoudis. The big man arrives from Pamesa Valencia, where he started the season, but did not play in their Eurocup opener. Dikoudis (206, 31) won the 2007 Euroleague with Panathinaikos Athens and also played there last season before leaving over the summer. He has already played seven Euroleague seasons with four different clubs – AEK Athens, Pamesa, CSKA Moscow and Panathinaikos.
In Dikoudis's decorated career, he has won the gold medal at the 2005 European Championships and the silver at the 2006 World Championships with the Greek national team. He also lifted the 2000 Saporta Cup with AEK Athens. And has won three Greek championships and four Greek Cups, one Russian championship and one Russian Cup.
After signing, Dikoudis said he chose Panionios despite many offers from other clubs. "The first reason was that I wanted to return to Greece. The second was the offer from Panionios, which is a historic and serious club. This year the team is very good and most importantly what motivated me was of course the fact that the team plays in the Euroleague. I think that Panionios has the makings of being one of the top teams in Greece."
