Regular Season Week 7 MVP: Rawle Marshall, Cibona
Cibona’s excellent start to the season has been in part thanks to the great contributions of swingman Rawle Marshall and he now has some individual honors to go with his team’s success. Marshall not only helped Cibona register a critical win against Le Mans, but he also registered the best individual performance in Week 7 with a 34 index. Marshall led Cibona to a 89-70 home win with 21 points on 5-for-5 two-point and 2-for-3 three-point shooting. He added 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 8 fouls drawn to amass that 34 index. Meanwhile Kaya Peker helped Efes Pilsen rejoin the Top 16 race in Group D. Efes beat AJ Milano 74-67 behind 19 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals and 10 fouls drawn from Peker, good for a 31 index. Andre Hutson of Lottomatica Roma shined against DKV Joventut with 22 points on 7-for-9 two-point shooting, 8 rebounds and 7 fouls drawn. Mantas Kalnietis of Zalgiris Kaunas, with a 29 index, and Mike Batiste of Panathinaikos, David Andersen of Regal FCB, Uros Tripkovic of Partizan and D'or Fischer of Maccabi Electra, each with a 28 index, complete the top individual performances in the round.
Individual highs: Cyril Julian of Sluc Nancy, 14 rebounds and 5 steals
It comes as no surprise that the Euroleague's all-time top scorer had more points than anyone else in Week 7. Marcus Brown of Maccabi Electra was the Week 7 top scorer with 26 points in his team's win at Air Avellino. Despite a slow week, Igor Rakocevic of Tau Ceramica remains the Euroleague best scorer with 18 points per game. Cyril Julian pulled down 14 rebounds and collected 5 steals to lead the weekly standings in both categories. Mirsad Turkcan of Fenerbahce Ulker leads the rebounds charts with 9.4 boards re outing, while Pablo Prigioni of Tau Ceramica is first in steals with 2.43 steals per game. Nikos Zisis of CSKA dished 8 assists, more than anyone this week, as he reached 10th place all-time in that category. Omar Cook leads the assists table at 5.4 per game. Stephane Lasme of Partizan had 5 blocks to lead the weekly standings. He ties atop the overall standings with Terence Morris of CSKA, each averaging 2 blocks in seven games. Only three players - Julian, Fischer and his Maccabi teammate Lior Eliyahu - registered respective double-doubles in this round.
