Nando Gentile becomes Roma head coach
Nando Gentile - Lottomatica RomaAfter an overtime loss at home that denied it first place in Group C, Lottomatica Roma announced that Nando Gentile would remain the team's head coach for the rest of the current season, with an option for next season. General manager Dejan Bodiroga made the announcement at a press conference following the game. Gentile, who turned 41 last week, had been interim head coach since Jasmin Repesa resigned the Roma bench one month ago. Under Gentile, the team clinched a Top 16 berth and was close to winning its group. Roma has also won four straight Italian League games since Gentile took the reins. As a player, Gentile had an impressive career during which he won the Euroleague with Panathinaikos in 2000 and helped the Italian national team to a silver medal at EuroBasket 1991.
