Maccabi adds guard Dee Brown
Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv made an addition to its backcourt a few days before the Top 16 starts with the signing of Dee Brown on Saturday. Brown (185, 24) is a quick, scoring point guard who played earlier this season with Phoenix and Washington of the NBA. Signed until the end of the season, he will join Carlos Arroyo and Marcus Brown in Maccabi's backcourt as soon as Sunday, as the team prepares for its Top 16 opener at home against Alba Berlin on Thursday. Maccabi becomes Dee Brown's second European club. He spent last season with Galatasaray of Turkey, helping the club reach the ULEB Cup semifinals. Brown averaged 14.7 points, 3.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds for Galatasaray in ULEB Cup play. Dee Brown had previously played for Utah of the NBA and the University of Illiniois. He reached the NCAA finals in 2005 and was given the 2006 Bob Cousy Award as college basketball's top point guard.
