Alba bulks up with Kenny Adeleke
With center Patrick Femerling sidelined for the whole Top 16, Alba Berlin signed rebounding ace Kenny Adeleke (25, 205) on Tuesday. The American power forward with Nigerian origin started the season for Lukoil Academic Sofia, but was released in December, after the Bulgarian champion had lost all options to reach the Last 16 of the Eurocup. In his three Eurocup games for Lukoil Adeleke, had 13.3 points and 13.0 rebounds per game. In his 13 games of the Bulgarian League he averaged 15.2 points and grabbed 12.7 boards.
Adeleke started his career in the NCAA in 2001 with Hofstra and after graduating in 2006 at the University of Hartford went overseas to Israel, where he played for Hapoel Galil Elyon during the 2006-07 season scoring 15.8 points per game and became the top rebounder of the Israeli League (9.3 boards per night). He spent last season in Turkey at Banvit to become the second best rebounder of the Turkish League (11.4 rpg and 14.1 ppg). Due to his late arrival in Berlin, Kenny Adeleke will miss Alba's Top 16 trip on Thursday to Maccabi Eelectra Tel Aviv and will make his debut for Alba on Sunday in the German League.
