CSKA, Greens take hold of their groups
Drew Nicholas - Panathinaikos
SLIDESHOW Top 16, Game 2

Two games into the Top 16 and the situation is identical in each of the four groups: One team is undefeated, one is winless and two are tied at 1-1. If on Wednesday the last two Euroleague champs became the first to win two games in the Top 16, Thursday that honor belonged to a pair of historic Euroleague teams, Armani Jeans Milano and Real Madrid. Group E featured a pair of thrillers. Armani Jeans held off Asseco Prokom 60-62 for its fifth straight win and seventh in its last eight games. Hollis Price erupted early with 17 first-period points and David Hawkins stepped up late. Olympiacos edged Tau Ceramica 73-70 as Lynn Greer netted 21 and Ioannis Bourousis recorded his fourth double-double of the season. In Group F, Real Madrid stormed back to beat Alba Berlin 84-87 on the road. Madrid trailed by 15 at halftime, but a season-high 19 points by Louis Bullock and 18 points and 11 boards from Felipe Reyes led the visitors to the win. Regal FC Barcelona trounced Maccabi Electra 85-65 led by its big men: David Andersen netted 17, Fran Vazquez posted a double-double and both swatted 3 shots. In Group G, 2007 champion Panathinaikos upended Unicaja 69-81 to snap the hosts' 23-game Euroleague winning streak that dated back to December 2006. The backourt duo of Drew Nicholas and Sarunas Jasikevicius combined for 37 points as they each recorded season bests for the Greens. Partizan bested Lottomatica Roma 84-76 as Uros Tripkovic rifled in 6 triples for 20 points and Novics Velickovic added a double-double. Reigning Euroleague champs CSKA trashed Cibona 87-61 to take hold of the reins in Group H. Trajan Langdon netted 18 to lead a well-balanced CSKA attack that featured seven players with at least 8 points. And Montepaschi Siena held off Fenerbahce Ulker 87-79 behind 24 points and 6 assists from All-Euroleague playmaker Terrell McIntyre.
