Week 6 MVP: Nikola Vujcic, Maccabi Elite
Nikola Vujcic - Maccabi Elite A performance as rare as it was memorable has seen Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv center Nikola Vujcic rewarded with the Week 6 MVP honor. The two-time All-Euroleague center put on yet another classic show by posting just the second triple-double in Euroleague play since the competition started in 2000. A triple-double is defined as one player attaining double figures in three major statistical categories. Vujcic led Maccabi to a 110-87 home win against Union Olimpija with 27 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Along with great shooting - 8 of 13 two-pointers, 1 of 1 triples and 8 of 8 free throws - Vujcic amassed a one-game index rating of 46, the highest of the season so far. Vujcic also owns the only other Euroleague triple-double, which he accomplished in Maccabi's first game last season against Prokom Trefl Sopot. Jeremiah Massey of Aris TT Bank had Week 6's second-best performance rating, 38, thanks to his 21 points and 13 rebounds in a home win against Zalgiris. Mirsad Turkcan of Fenerbahce Ulker followed with a 35 index rating as he pulled down 21 rebounds in his team's road win at Napoli. Turkcan is the only player ever to grab more than 20 boards in a Euroleague Basketball game - and this marks the fourth time he has done so. Berni Rodriguez of Unicaja (index 33), whose team defeated Lottomatica in Rome, and Andrija Zizic of Olympiacos (32), who led his team's home victory over Dynamo, completed the top individual perfomances of the week.

Vujcic's 27 points were tops for the week, while Juan Carlos Navarro held onto the best overall scoring average, 20.8 points per game. With his show on the boards for Fenerbahce, Turkcan moved back in front among overall rebounders after six games, with 11.2 on average. Vujcic's 10 assists, also tops for the week, moved him into a first-place tie in that category with Nikos Zisis of Benetton Treviso. They both average 5 assists per game. Valerio Spinelli of Napoli, Ricky Rubio of DKV Joventut and Kosta Perovic of Partizan each took 5 steals this week, while there are tri-leaders in that category after six weeks: Dimitrios Diamantidis of Panathinaikos, Michael Wilkinson of Aris and Fred House of Tau Ceramica, tied with 3 per game. Perovic also picked up 4 blocks for Partizan, but ranks second overall in that stat to Marcus Haislip of Efes Pilsen, who swats 2 per game.
