Game Center, Top 16, Week 5
Five more teams complete playoff field!
SLIDESHOW Game 5

The eight teams that will play in Quarterfinal Playoffs are now known. Montepaschi Siena and Olympiacos both won on Thursday of a record-setting Top 16, Week 5, the latter’s victory also qualifying Tau Ceramica, which won Wednesday. CSKA Moscow and Regal FC Barcelona also advanced on Wednesday. However, the matchups are far from settled, as only one team has won its group and secured home-court advantage for the best-of-five playoffs. History was made in Group G as Partizan topped Panathinaikos 63-56 in front of a 22,567 fans – a European basketball record for an indoor arena. The Serbian champs matched the Greek champs for the best record in the Group, 4-1, but could not wrest the tiebreaker from the Greens, who will win the group with a victory or a Partizan loss next week. Wednesday’s Group G contest also made history as Unicaja bested Lottomatica Roma  99-64 as Thomas Kelati matched the Euroleague single-game record of 9 three-pointer and set a personal best with 33 points. The week’s action started in Moscow, where CSKA outlasted Fenerbahce Ulker 77-60 behind 18 points from Erazem Lorbek to improve to 4-1 in Group H. The champs won the group when Montepaschi beat Cibona Zagreb 86-70 on Thursday. All-Euroleague point guard Terrell McIntyre set a career-high with 29 as Montepaschi returned to the playoffs. In Group E, Olympiacos edged Armani Jeans Milano 84-81 to reach the playoffs and take Tau Ceramica with it. Nikola Vujcic scored at least 20 for the third straight game with a season-high 27 for the Reds. On Wednesday, Tau pulled away for a 72-92 win at Asseco Prokom. Mirza Teletovic matched his Euroleague high with 22 points. Tau hosts Olympiacos next week with first place in the group at stake. Barcelona downed Real Madrid 90-79 to take pole position in Group F. The two teams now have 4-1 records, but Barca owns the tiebreaker. The win also eliminated Maccabi Electra from playoff contention – the first time the Israeli powerhouse will miss the quarterfinals this decade. Nevertheless, Maccabi defeated Alba Berlin 70-76 thanks to 22 points and 12 rebounds from Charles Gaines.
