Maccabi lands Limonad for three years
After being eliminated earlier than ever in its Euroleague history Maccabi Electra is already making moves in the market for the future with the announcement of local guard Raviv Limonad on a long term contract. Limonad (192, 25) signed till the reminder of the current season in addition to three more, keeping him in yellow-and-blue until 2012. Limonad spent the first part of this season with Ironi Nahariya in the BSL and averaged 14 points in over 50% from the field, 4.2 assists and 2.8 rebounds. He helped Nahariya eliminate Maccabi from the national cup and reach the semifinals, but had to leave the club due to financial difficulties the team has faced and Maccabi jumped on the bargain.
For the national team guard this will be the second trip to the Euroleague after making his debut last year in Le Mans Sarthe Basket. He enjoyed a good first season by averaging 10.5 ppg and 4.1 apg in over 45% from three point range. Raviv was ranked among the top 50 players in index rating per minute that season, and set two season highs in points (21) and rebounds (7) when Le Mans faced Maccabi. Prior to Le Mans Limonad made his debut in the senior level in Ironi Ramat Gan where he earned the best newcomer award of the league, before moving in January 2004 to Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem. Later on that season he celebrated with the team the ULEB Cup trophy, but had a very limited role in that roster, under coach Sharon Drucker, currently the assistant-coach in Maccabi. His next stop was his first visit at Ironi Nahariya in 2006/07, before moving to France and returning to Nahariya last summer.
