Quarterfinal analysis: Regal FC Barcelona vs. Tau Ceramica
For just the third time in the five years since the institution of the Quarterfinal Playoffs, two domestic rivals will meet in a series. And for the third time, Regal FC Barcelona will be involved in that series. Both Barcelona and opponent Tau Ceramica will hope that this series mirrors their own past playoffs experiences. Barcelona is making its fourth consecutive playoffs appearance and all of the previous ones have been decided by home-court advantage in the final game. Meanwhile Tau, coached by former Barcelona boss Dusko Ivanovic, is the only team to ever overturn home-court advantage in the quarters. Tau eliminated higher-seeded Benetton Treviso in 2005 and Panathinaikos in 2006. It is searching for a fifth consecutive Final Four berth. The two teams are also ranked in the top two spots in the Spanish League and recently locked horns in the Spanish King’s Cup semifinals, which Tau won. Tau also swept Barca in last season’s Spanish league finals.

Quarterfinal Analyst
LUBOS BARTON
In his fourth Euroleague season this decade with four different clubs, Lubos Barton of Regal FC Barcelona has gained experience to spare and has developed into a classic "glue" player, the kind who fills in whatever his team needs - move the ball, rebound, shoot, defend - at a given moment. There is little doubt that Barcelona will need all of Barton's experience and versatility against a familiar foe, Tau Ceramica, in their upcoming five-game playoff series. "The homecourt advantage…might not be decisive," Barton says, "but it will surely give us an edge."
Barton told Euroleague.net

Quarterfinal Analyst
VLADO ILIEVSKI
A fixture in the Euroleague for most of the last eight years, point guard Vlado Ilievski was brought to Tau Ceramica in midseason with games like the upcoming best-of-five Quarterfinal Playoffs in mind. Ilievski will try to bring all his experience to bear as Tau tries to break the homecourt advantage of his former team, Regal FC Barcelona. In a battle between such familiar rivals, he says, anything is possible. "Home court is not really a factor," Ilievski says. "The team that wants it most will be the winner, so chemistry and heart on the court will be most important."
Ilievski told Euroleague.net
