Quarterfinal analysis: Olympiacos vs. Real Madrid
Olympiacos and Real Madrid clash in the Quarterfinal Playoffs in a rematch of the 1995 Euroleague title game, which Madrid won behind the great Arvydas Sabonis. Olympiacos is making its fourth straight quarterfinals appearance, but still looking for its first Final Four appearance in a decade. Madrid is back in the playoffs for the first time in three years. Last season the Reds beat Madrid in the Top 16 finale with a quarterfinal spot on the line. Five players on each team from that game are on the current rosters. Olympiacos enters the playoffs with a five-game winning streak intact and grateful for its home-court advantage after going 7-1 at the Peace and Friendship Stadium this season. Madrid, which went 5-1 in Top 16 Group F and only finished second on a tiebreaker, went 4-4 on the road this season with prestigious away wins at CSKA, Maccabi and Efes Pilsen.

Quarterfinal Analyst
PANAGIOTIS VASILOPOULOS
On a team where nine players average between 17 and 24 minutes per game, any and every one can be key to success. That's why a fully healthy Panagiotis Vasilopoulos is welcome news for Olympiacos as it prepares its five-game quarterfinal against Madrid. Experience tells Vasilopoulos not to make assumptions at this stage of the season. "The home court advantage is important, but not enough,"
Vasilopoulos told Euroleague.net
, "so we have to start from scratch."
Quarterfinal Analyst
AXEL HERVELLE
His fifth season wearing Real Madrid white makes forward Axel Hervelle is one of the longest-serving current players for one of the best-known teams in the world. As such, he will be counted on as a team leader for the upcoming best-of-five playoffs with Olympiacos, the same team that eliminated Madrid last season. "We have not forgotten what happened in our final Euroleague game in Athens last season,"
Hervelle told Euroleague.net
. "It was very tough for us."
