Theo Papaloukas - OlympiacosGame 1 of the best-of-five Quarterfinal Playoffs not only was exciting, but brought some records and milestones with it. Theo Papaloukas of Olympiacos led the Reds to a 88-79 home win against Real Madrid with 13 points and as many as 13 assists, tying a playoff record. Elmer Bennett of Tau Ceramica had previously dished 13 assists in a semifinals playoff game against AEK on April 4, 2001. Papaloukas also came within one assist of the all-time single-game record, 14, which still belongs to Tyus Edney, who had that many in a regular season victory by Benetton Treviso over Olympiacos 89-102 on February 5, 2004. Nonetheless, it was a personal high for Papaloukas, who had two previous 12-assist efforts. "About breaking my personal assist record, from 12 to 13, yes, I will do it like Sergey Bubka, breaking it little by little," joked Papaloukas, who is the Euroleague's all-time total assists leader, with 721.

CSKA, which won its series opener 56-47 over Partizan, also set several defensive playoff records. Partizan's total of 47 points are the fewest allowed by any defense in a playoff game to date, as were the visitors' total of 3 in the game's first quarter and 20 at the half. The game's cumulative score of 103 points was also a playoff record for fewest points between two teams, while CSKA’s 56 marked the fewest by a home team in a playoff game. As for other milestones, Juan Carlos Navarro of Regal F.C. Barcelona has climbed to fourth place on the Euroleague's all-time scorers list. Navarro, who had 17 points in Game 1 against Tau, has a total of 2,062 since the competition was created in 2000. Only Marcus Brown (2,508), Nikola Vujcic (2,143) and J.R. Holden (2,081) are head of him, with Luis Scola (2,054) now moving down to fifth place. Menawhile, Tiago Splitter of Tau Ceramica has entered the Top 10 list in the all-time blocks. Splitter now has 79 blocks in 117 Euroleague career games. Another player in the Regal FCB-Tau series, Fran Vazquez, ranks fifth in that list with 107 blocks.
