One of the most powerful young big men in basketball, Panathinaikos center Nikola Pekovic posted impressive scoring totals all season before bulling through Berlin on the way to his first Euroleague title. Practically unstoppable when he gets the ball inside, Pekovic was the star of the semifinals for Panathinaikos, with 20 points in less than 20 minutes. He made himself a key factor early in the title game, too, scoring six points in a 10-0 first-quarter run that gave the Greens the lead for good. Pekovic finishing his first season with Panathinaikos as the team’s leading scorer, not to mention the Euroleague's top-rated player and best scorer on a per-minute basis. Not surprisingly, Pekovic was voted to the All-Euroleague First Team, another of the many signs that point this bright young star toward a future of greatness dressed in green.
