Week 8 MVP: Lazaros Papadopoulos, Dynamo M.
Lazaros Papadopoulos- Dynamo Moscow One of Europe's signature centers showed that he has returned fully from a recent injury as Lazaros Papadopoulos of Dynamo Moscow earned the Week 8 MVP honor. Papadopoulos led Dynamo to its first road win of the season in Group A, 82-96 against RheinEnergie, by scoring 25 points on 8-for-11 two-point and 9-for-10 free-throw shooting. He added 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, 1 block and 8 fouls drawn to collect a 38 index rating. Mario Kasun of Winterthur FC Barcelona had the second-best performance with a 35 index. Kasun helped Barcelona to beat Elan Bearnais Pau-Orthez with 29 points on 11-for-15 two-pointers and 8 rebounds. Mike Wilkinson of Aris TT Bank ranked third for the week with a 33 index. Wilkinson had 24 points on 9-for-11 shooting, also hitting his only three-point attempt and 3 of 3 free throws to help Aris beat Fenerbahce Ulker on the road. Yotam Halperin of Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv (index 32) and Davor Kus of Cibona (31) complete the top individual perfomances of the week. Kus hit all his 17 free throw attempts, tying for the Euroleague record he now holds with Andrija Zizic of Olympiacos for most foul shots made in a game.

"I'm very happy, most of all for our victory, which was our first away from Moscow, and therefore very important," Papadopoulos said. "I am also happy to have played well enough to get this honor, because playing well showed that I have fully recovered from the injury that kept me out a month. It has cost me a little to get back to full form, but I got a lot of help from my teammates, who did a good job of getting me the ball. To do well in a game we needed to win has been the best for me."

Individual highs: Kasun, 29 points

Kasun was also the top scorer in Week 8 with 29 points against Pau-Orthez as Barcelona won 93-75 at home. Kasun had averaged 8.2 points in 5 previous Euroleague games. His teammate Juan Carlos Navarro remains the Euroleague's leading scorer overall at 20.5 points per game. Giannis Bouroussis of Olympiacos led all rebounders with 12 boards in the Reds' road loss against Tau Ceramica, quite a breakout for a player who ranks just 68th overall in that category, which is led by Mirsad Turkcan of Fenerbahce with 10.5 rebounds per game. Nikos Zisis of Benetton Treviso was the only player to register double-digit in assists in his team's road win in Treviso. He also leads the overall standings at 5.9 assists per game. Ricky Rubio of DKV Joventut collected 7 steals against Panathinaikos. Rubio, who is just 16 years old, is the steals leader 3.8 per game, despite playing less than 19 minutes per night. Sandro Nicevic of Le Mans Sarthe Basket had 3 blocks, more anyone this week. Marcus Haislip of Efes Pilsen stays atop the blocks category, rejecting 2 shots per game. Five players - Bouroussis, Zisis, Haislip, James Thomas of Climamio Bologna and Dimitri Flis of DKV Joventut - registered double-doubles this week.
